Hatshepsut (the woman who made herself king)

Hatshepsut was the 1st woman pharaoh to rule Egypt. When her father (Thutmose the 1st) died, her brother (Thutmose the 2nd) took over. When Thutmose the 2nd took over Hatshepsut married him, making her queen of Egypt. About seven years later, Thutmose the 2nd died, which made Thutmose the 3rd king. Thutmose the 3rd was only 10 at the time, which made him too young, too take the rule as king of Egypt. So Hatshepsut was made Thutmose the 3rd’s supervisor.
Because Hatshepsut hade more experience in being pharaoh with her father when she was young, Hatshepsut thought that her nephew was too young to rule, and that he had less experience, so she took over, making her the pharaoh of Egypt. Thutmose the 3rd thought once he was old enough to take the rule of pharaoh, Hatshepsut, would give him the rule of the pharaoh back. But, unluckily for Thutmose the 3rd, Hatshepsut had other plans. She wanted to stay pharaoh until she dies. Of course Thutmose the 3rd was mad at her, and would probably do anything to get the rule of the pharaoh of Egypt back, and show who should have been in the thrown.
. When she took thrown she took the clothing of a man and even put on a fake beard. They said Amen-Re changed her like clay. But even still, the people of Egypt loved Hatshepsut, for she built more temples, restored the old temples, sent workers to find ore (metal), and was interested in trade, which helped Egypt. She did this for 20 years. She achieved many other accomplishments during her roll at the thrown. When Hatshepsut died, Thutmose the 3rd tried to make the memory of Hatshepsut go away by throwing all of her statues, records, and anything else that had to do with her. He also tried to be better than she was. He also tried to cover her name in plaster everywhere her name was engraved. Later the plaster fell off, luckily for the archeologists.
Today archeologists have several conclusions on how Hatshepsut died. The most used one says that Thutmose the 3rd killed her off of his anger of not getting the thrown when he was supposed to / old enough. Hatshepsut’s obelisk, a tall 4-sided stone pillar, is in good enough condition today to easily read. The archeologists also are looking for her tomb in “The Valley Of The Kings”. Cause they can’t find the tomb, they think that when Thutmose the 3rd took over he destroyed it so no one could find it ever again. The archeologists are still trying to find out more information about Hatshepsut.
